SiXworks is seeking a Junior SOC Analyst to monitor secure digital solutions and respond to security incidents. You will work within a 24/7 SOC environment, liaising with engineers, architects and delivery specialists to improve security controls and enable faster, safer decisions for critical operations.

The role emphasizes monitoring, incident response using playbooks, vulnerability triage, and collaboration within a high-security setting.

Qualifications

• Candidate has relevant cyber security qualifications or related technical roles.
• Degree in cyber security, computer science, networks or equivalent.
• Professional certifications from recognised bodies (e.g., CompTIA, ISACA).

Responsibilities

• Monitor secure digital solutions in highly secure environments for security alerts and incidents.
• Respond to incidents using a catalogue of playbooks and escalate complex cases to Tier 2.
• Review and improve security controls in line with evolving environments.
• Triage and review vulnerability scanning reports; feed results to tech teams.
• Generate recurring security reports for key stakeholders and suggest improvements.

We’re looking for a Junior SOC Analyst who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges and wants their work to have real operational impact.

This role falls within our 24/7 SOC function and will work to a shift pattern.

What You’ll Do

As a Junior SOC Analyst you’ll monitor secure digital solutions in highly secure environments. You’ll work alongside engineers, architects, and delivery specialists to develop technology that enables faster, safer decision-making for critical operations.

Your work may include:

• Monitoring of Systems for Security Alerts, Intrusions or activity considered to be unauthorised, unexpected or illegal
• Responding to incidents, utilising a catalogue of playbooks
• Escalation of complex incidents to Tier 2 Incident Response Teams
• Review and develop existing security controls in line with a constantly growing technical environment
• Triage and Review Vulnerability Scanning Reports, feeding results back into technical teams
• Review Secure Configurations, feeding back into technical teams for remediations of issues
• Generate recurring service and security reports for key stakeholders
• Feedback service improvement ideas to the SOC Manager
• Keep up-to-date with the latest security threats and trends
• Research and develop understanding of security as a discipline
• Shifts throughout 24/7 SOC Service Delivery

What We’re Looking For

We value people who take ownership, think critically, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team tackling complex challenges. You don’t need to tick every box, but we’re particularly interested in people with skills/experience in:

• No Corporate Experience Mandatory, but desired
• Relevant qualification(s) in Cyber Security, or other related technical roles
• Degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Networks etc.
• Professional Qualifications from organisations such as CompTIA, ISACA etc.
• Technical qualifications in security and technology such as (but not limited to) cloud computing, SIEM, Vulnerability Scanning/Management etc.

Just as important are curiosity, strong problem solving ability, and the motivation to continuously improve how technology is designed and delivered.
