Junior Sister/Charge Nurse - Durrington/AFU Ward

An exciting B6 position has become available on Durrington/AFU ward.

Durrington acute medical frailty ward is a growing team of nurses, clinicians, and therapists. This is a fast-paced environment caring for patients with various medical conditions and complex discharge planning.

Durrington is a friendly and supportive environment with an enthusiastic team. You will be clinically challenged as a key member of the management and leadership team, deputising for the ward sister/charge nurse in their absence.

As a registered, accountable, and autonomous nurse, you will act in the best interests of your patients at all times and take personal responsibility for your actions and decisions.

You will be responsible for patient assessment, care planning, providing and supervising safe and compassionate care, and evaluating the effectiveness of care.

As an NMC registrant, you will facilitate the learning and development of staff and students. You will demonstrate strong leadership qualities and be open, transparent, and trustworthy. As a Trust employee, you will act with integrity and uphold the values of the Trust and the NMC Code of Conduct.

Main duties of the job

Professional and ethical practice.

  • You will work closely with the Ward Manager to manage the ward, communicating effectively, listening to staff, and ensuring their views are heard.
  • You will support your Senior Sister by agreeing on decisions and plans for ward development and presenting a united, cohesive voice as a senior team member.
  • You will supervise and monitor care delivery, ensuring staff and students provide care with kindness, compassion, and respect, while maintaining standards and managing concerns appropriately.

Care management and educational responsibilities.

  • You will contribute to public protection by creating and maintaining a safe environment through quality assurance and risk management strategies, including clinical risk assessments and incident reporting.
  • You will demonstrate knowledge of effective inter-professional working practices, respecting and utilizing contributions from all health and social care team members.
