In order to maintain our commitment to high quality patient-focused care, we are seeking experienced Children's Nurses interested in developing their skills and knowledge in a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse role. You will join our team in the Children's Assessment Unit at Colchester Hospital.

The children’s services team covers the Children’s assessment unit, Children’s Emergency Department, Children’s elective care, and Children’s Inpatient unit. We offer full-time positions, but part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Assessing, recognizing, prioritizing, and evaluating children with minor injuries, serious illnesses, or injuries presenting for urgent care.
  2. Managing and developing the nursing team within the Children’s Emergency Department and Children’s Assessment Unit, providing professional and clinical leadership to deliver high-quality, safe, and cost-effective care to children and families.
  3. Developing the role of the Paediatric Nurse Practitioner/Paediatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner, ensuring all children are assessed, treated, and discharged or admitted within 4 hours of arrival.
