Job summary

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals is seeking a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse for the Haematology ward at St Helier hospital in Carshalton. The role requires experience in a cancer environment and strong leadership and communication skills.

The post is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week) with long days, weekends and nights. Applicants should be prepared to act as deputy to the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and support ward operations.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
  • Involvement in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality nursing care to patients in the haematology ward.
  • Lead and support the Ward Manager in day-to-day running of the unit.
  • Act as deputy for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and manage operational issues in their absence.
  • Contribute to leadership, education, and training within the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The Haematology ward is looking to recruit a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse. The successful candidate will need to have

experience from working in a cancer environment and have excellent communication and leadership skills. You

will be expected to support the Ward Manager in the day to day running of the unit providing leadership in theirabsence.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who would like to build their management and leadership skills.
