Requirements:

Candidates should currently be working as a software developer, with a firm foundation in computing, engineering and simulation.

Candidate will be joining the Modelling & Simulation (M&S) discipline within the customer team, supporting development across the entire product lifecycle – from concept analysis through Test & Evaluation (T&E) and Training. The role involves working within the Simulation department on Active Cockpit simulators and related utilities, prototyping new avionic and cockpit designs.

This is a fully onsite role with a minimum of 4 days per week from the Customer Site.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Development of software
  • Ownership of requirements, design, implementation, system integration, and testing within schedule and estimates
  • Adherence to systems engineering practices
  • Reporting on progress and providing feedback
  • Production of technical documentation
  • Design of technical solutions, integrating COTS hardware and software
  • Planning and estimating development activities
  • Managing technical risks
  • Supporting delivered systems and resolving issues with customers
  • Technical management of tasks
  • Line management & mentoring of team members
  • Development and refinement of development processes
  • Developing system architectures to meet IT & security requirements
  • Creating new work opportunities within the department
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maths, or Physics
  • Strong programming experience in C/C++ using Visual Studio
  • Experience with cockpit Human Machine Interface (HMI)
  • Experience with configuration control tools like Mercurial
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Security clearance required
Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
  • Experience in task leading, QMS documentation, mentoring
  • Knowledge of Linux and avionics/mission systems domain
  • Experience with Jira, Simulation Interoperability standards (HLA/DIS/Link16)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Interest in military aircraft domain
Qualifications:

HND/HNC, degree (BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng) in a relevant STEM subject or equivalent experience. Must be a UK or EU citizen or hold a valid work permit and clear background checks (BPSS).
