Junior Retro Technical Accountant

Job Description:

The Junior Portfolio Manager Operations oversees the administration of insurance and/or reinsurance accounts and contracts, including establishing and maintaining contractual data, processing account bookings, claims handling, and managing related cash flow. He/she also supports underwriters in administrative activities related to the underwriting process.

• Responsible for entries (treaties and/or facultative) in the accounting and underwriting systems/platforms and all further modifications.
• Enter T&C (Terms and Conditions) into the accounting system accurately.
• Check contractual T&C, submit them to underwriters for signature, and highlight ambiguities or changes.
• Check and process accounts and claims advices.
• Clarify discrepancies with underwriters, claim experts, cedents, and brokers.
• Manage low complexity accounts following standard procedures under guidance of a senior manager.
• Manage cash flow, including setting up client bank accounts, processing payments, and following up on pending payments and balances.
• Perform ICS controls according to guidelines and support underwriters in these controls.
• Monitor client accounts/statistics using internal reports.
• Ensure compliance with sanctions and embargoes by scanning lists and consulting legal if needed.
• Ensure proper filing of documentation in the DMS.
• Maintain communication with clients through meetings and workshops as required.

Required experience & competencies

Experience:

• Experience in (re-/)insurance accounting, underwriting assistance, or controlling preferred.
• Advanced MS Office skills, especially MS Excel and Power Query.
• Knowledge of Business Object is beneficial.

Required Education

• At least a completed commercial apprenticeship (preferably in a re-/insurance company) or equivalent.
