Qualifications

  • Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, valuations, and cost forecasts.
  • Support in the measurement and valuation of works, both on-site and from drawings.
  • Contribute to subcontractor procurement, tendering, and contract negotiations.
  • Monitor project variations and assist with change control documentation.
  • Prepare monthly cost/value reports and cashflow forecasts.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our team based in South Yorkshire, supporting a range of civil engineering and water infrastructure projects. Working closely with senior commercial staff, youll gain hands-on experience in cost management, contract administration, and procurement, contributing to the successful delivery of high-profile water and utility schemes.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, valuations, and cost forecasts

Support in the measurement and valuation of works, both on-site and from drawings

Contribute to subcontractor procurement, tendering, and contract negotiations

Monitor project variations and assist with the preparation of change control documentation

Help ensure financial compliance with client frameworks and NEC contracts

Assist in the preparation of monthly cost/value reports and cashflow forecasts

Work collaboratively with engineers, site teams, and external stakeholders

Support senior QS staff in dispute resolution and final account agreements

Requirements:
Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline

0-2 years experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within civil engineering or water sectors

Familiarity with NEC contracts (beneficial but not essential)

Strong numeracy and analytical skills

Excellent communication and team-working abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other commercial software tools

Desirable Experience:
Exposure to infrastructure projects such as pipelines, water treatment plants, drainage, or utilities

Understanding of cost control systems and processes

Full UK driving licence
