Junior Quantity Surveyor (Southeast 2025) Ref: 20250401JRQS Overview of the Employer A family-run business trading for over 27 years, McCrory provides Design & Build Principal Contractor construction services for prestige clients in the Energy, Transport & Utilities Infrastructure sectors in the UK and Ireland. Clients over the last 20 years include: The Irish Rail Procurement Agency Irish Rail / Iarnrd ireann NI Translink Network Rail National Grid Affinity Water Channel Tunnel Group Overview of Role The successful candidate will be based in Omagh, Co. Tyrone and will be introduced to the commercial aspects of infrastructure, building, and civil engineering projects (valued £1K£15M) in the UK and Ireland, particularly in Southeast England. Current projects include: Civil Engineering works High Voltage Substation and Low Voltage Distribution diversion & implementation Reinforced Concrete foundations, Structures and Buildings Portal Steel frame buildings, Cladding & Roofing Heavy Duty RC and tarmac highway finishes Utilities diversion and installation General and industrial building, office construction, full M&E fitout Ideal applicant: 05 years experience in a similar UK-based sector and familiarity with UK regulations and procedures. Applicable to NI Applicants Only: Regular travel to England required (negotiable frequency) Infrequent travel to sites in France possible Flights, accommodation, travel expenses, and company pool vehicles provided Reports to: Senior Commercial Manager (SCM) Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time Key Roles and Responsibilities Tender Support: Assist with preparation and pricing of tenders Source costings from suppliers and subcontractors Identify alternative options and value engineering Live Projects: Support site measurement processing for valuations Assist with variation claims and tracking Manage Daily Allocation Sheets with site staff Liaise with client QS and project managers Support preparation of budgets, costings, projections Prepare weekly variation and monthly cost reports Review sub-contractor claims and prepare payments Additional & Shared Responsibilities Communicate with suppliers/subcontractors Maintain price lists Prepare final account valuations with SCM/Directors Essential Skills & Qualifications Education: BA (Hons) in Quantity Surveying A-Levels: Mathematics (A), Science (B), other (B) GCSEs: Mathematics (A), Science (B), English (B), other Driving: Full Clean UK/EU Licence (max 3 points) Passport: Valid 6+ months IT Skills: MS Excel, Outlook, Windows file system, Bluebeam Revu Health: May be subject to Network Rail (ML1) Medical Communication: Excellent grammar, clarity, and negotiation skills Other: Detail-oriented Independent and team-driven Desirable Skills & Characteristics Interest or background in infrastructure / civil engineering CSCS UK H&S Test for Managers & Professionals CSCS / CSR Site Card Manual Handling Certificate (Half Day / 3 Year) High academic attendance/punctuality MS Project knowledge/experience Additional Information All staff subject to Drugs and Alcohol Screening (initial, random, and cause-based) Bi-weekly travel to UK sites required Salary & Package Negotiable based on CV, academic record, experience, and interview Suitable for postgraduates or junior engineers (010 years experience) Benefits: Up to 28 days annual leave (incremental after 3 years) + bank holidays Formal salary scale: 2%5% annual increase Christmas bonus: approx. 2%7% Overtime with agreed uplift For website ads: Click Apply Now and submit: Brief intro & career aspirations Full CV with academic breakdown
