Junior Quality Engineer - Air Technology
Scope of Role Assist the Quality Team in ensuring compliance with quality standards, customer requirements, and internal processes. The Junior Quality Engineer will support day-to-day activities within the Quality department, gain exposure to regulatory requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while developing the skills required for a future Quality Engineer role.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and submission of First Article Reports and review of supplier documentation under supervision.
- Monitor internal product quality issues, escalating to senior team members as needed.
- Participate in problem-solving activities and root cause investigations, assisting in implementing corrective actions.
- Help maintain quality records, metrics, and reporting tools.
- Support the release of products in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements (following training and under supervision).
- Assist with preparation for internal and external audits.
- Take part in internal audits as a team member and follow up on actions raised.
- Provide general administrative and technical support to the Quality team.
Other Responsibilities/Non-Essential Functions
- Undertake training and development to build knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulations.
- Carry out reasonable requests from the Quality Manager or senior team members.
- Support colleagues in periods of high workload or absence.
- Participate in cross-departmental tasks or projects as required.
Limits of Authority
- No delegated authority to approve product release without supervision.
- Cannot amend Business Management System processes, procedures, or guidelines but may provide recommendations.

Professional Knowledge & Experience
- Some experience (e.g., placement, apprenticeship, graduate role, or previous employment) in a manufacturing or engineering environment is desirable.
- Interest in developing knowledge of quality standards (AS9100, EASA, FAA) within aerospace and defence.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to produce clear written notes and basic reports.
