Proactive Appointments Ltd. is hiring a Junior Python Developer in Exeter.

The role focuses on engineering, writing code, and addressing backlog requirements, with a specialist emphasis on assisting the Engineering Manager in flow, Jira Kanban boards, and release health across web and mobile products. You will build new features, fix bugs, and reduce technical debt while helping to ensure pre-production quality and smooth production releases.

Qualifications

• Strong background as a Software Engineer or Web Developer with hands-on coding capability.
• Proficient in Python and/or PHP, relational databases (SQL), and Git workflows.
• Experience orchestrating web and mobile release cycles and pre-production deployments.
• Practical experience with Docker and containerised development setups.
• Experience managing Jira boards using Kanban flow principles to optimise team output.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and write code to address backlog requirements and develop new features.
• Assist the Engineering Manager in driving flow and release health across web and mobile products.
• Maintain production release quality and orchestrate smooth production releases.

Junior Python Developer

Proactive IT Appointments are exclusively representing a leading organisation based in Exeter in their search for a Junior Python Developer. This is a fantastic oppurtunity for a candidate that has 2-5 year's experience, to take the next leap in their career. The roleprimarily focuses on engineering writing code and addressing backlog requirements, this position carries a specialist focus: directly assisting the Engineering Manager in driving flow, managing Jira Kanban boards, and maintaining strict release health and quality standards across web and mobile products. You will build new features, fix bugs, and reduce technical debt while serving as the primary engineering catalyst to eliminate delivery bottlenecks, ensure pre-production operational quality, and orchestrate smooth production releases.

Experience Requried:

• Strong background as a Software Engineer, Web Developer, Technical QA Engineer, or Quality/Delivery Engineer with proven hands-on coding capability.
• Demonstrated proficiency in PHP and/or Python, relational databases (SQL), and Git version control workflows.
• Direct experience orchestrating web and mobile release cycles, executing pre-production deployments, and managing release stability.
• Practical experience working with Docker and containerised development setups.
• Proven track record of actively managing Jira boards using Kanban flow principles to optimise team output.
