We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior PR and Public Affairs Officer to join our busy Corporate Communications and Public Affairs team.
The aim of this role is to raise the profile and enhance the reputation of the University of Westminster through policy and media engagement.
You will work closely with various teams across the University, including academics, promoting research, students, alumni, and other partners and stakeholders.
You will assist with dissemination and monitoring of PR and PA projects, campaigns, student recruitment efforts, and reputation enhancement in key areas.
Your responsibilities include raising public awareness, developing relationships with political stakeholders, generating media coverage, creating news items, responding to media inquiries, identifying expert comment opportunities, sharing engagement activities, promoting events, and running policy-focused events.
This role requires someone proactive and imaginative, capable of translating research into policy and news content, developing creative pitches, and building media and policy networks.
The ideal candidate holds a degree in a relevant field, possesses excellent copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills, and has an interest in news and politics.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and prioritization skills are essential, along with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple requests while maintaining quality. Attention to detail and rapport-building skills are also key.
