Job Description

Junior Project Planner

Birmingham-based (with flexible remote working & site visits)

Construction Consultancy | Multi-sector Projects

£30,000 – £38,000 (depending on experience) + Bonus + Travel + Pension + Development

Are you an ambitious engineer or construction graduate looking to build a career in project planning?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, forward-thinking planning consultancy that’s redefining how the industry approaches planning and project controls. You'll work alongside a dynamic team of engineers who are passionate about delivering real value to clients — not just ticking boxes.

What’s the Role?

As a Junior Project Planner, you’ll:

  • Work on live construction projects from early design through to delivery.
  • Learn to build project schedules from the ground up — drawings to logic, float, and calendars.
  • Be trained across leading planning tools: Primavera P6, ASTA Powerproject, MS Project, Synchro 4D/5D, Tilos, and more.
  • Attend site visits to update programmes in collaboration with delivery teams and project managers.
  • Support the creation of interactive dashboards and one-page executive reports using Power BI.
  • Gain exposure to NEC and JCT contract frameworks, using platforms like CEMAR and Asite.
Why This Role Stands Out
  • No short-term placements — this is about growing a planner for the long term.
  • Engineer-led team — all planners have technical backgrounds and deep project understanding.
  • Modern, digital consultancy — using tech to drive clarity and control.
  • Diverse project exposure — work across sectors (infrastructure, residential, commercial, and more).
  • Flexible & collaborative working — HQ is a modern, central Birmingham office with spaces for team working or quiet focus.
What’s in It for You?
  • Full training & mentorship in advanced planning software and techniques
  • Travel fully paid for site visits (incl. accommodation where needed)
  • Annual bonus (paid at Christmas based on company performance)
  • Private medical insurance – scheme is being introduced as part of the growing benefits package
  • 5% matched pension
  • Work in a small, tight-knit team with real ownership
  • A clear pathway to becoming a well-rounded, senior planner
Who We’re Looking For
  • Degree-qualified in engineering, construction management, or similar
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with internal teams and clients
  • Eager to develop technical planning skills in a real-world setting
  • Curious, driven, and looking to grow in a supportive environment
