Job description

At Severn Trent, we're embarking on an exciting £415m project to replace 870 miles of old water pipes across the Midlands. This is the biggest investment in water infrastructure in the region in a decade, aimed at improving water quality, reducing leaks, and making water supply more reliable for millions of people. The new pipes installed will last up to 100 years.

To bring this project to life, we are creating new jobs across the region, with opportunities based in Birmingham, Nottingham, or anywhere in between. Join us to help shape the future of water in the Midlands.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Due to a new programme delivering full mains renewal across the UK over the next few years, we are now on a significant recruitment drive to scale our teams and deliver this work.

This is your opportunity to be part of this exciting transformation!

We are looking for an Assistant Programme Manager to work closely with Project Coordinators, ensuring the smooth running of mains renewal activities, providing coaching, and maintaining compliance such as cost tracking and legal paperwork. You will be part of a team of 8, reporting to the Programme Manager for one of four regions: North, South, East, or West.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Managing the end-to-end scheme, including planning resources, equipment, and forecasting costs and delivery profiles.
  • Writing gated papers for schemes as they progress through the programme.
  • Coordinating the planning, ordering, and management of plant, equipment, materials, and fittings, liaising with supply chain.
  • Supporting the Network Construction Manager to ensure materials and equipment are costed and organized for timely delivery.
  • Updating SAP or relevant systems with delivery and cost data.
  • Supporting onsite teams with scope changes, arranging emergency equipment if needed.
  • Ensuring all documentation, including HSE and legal documents, are current and properly collated.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to manage end-to-end cost and delivery at scheme level.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

The ideal candidate will have experience managing multiple large-scale projects, with strong stakeholder management skills. Experience in utilities or water industry is beneficial. A full UK Driving License is required as travel to different sites across the region will be necessary.
