Job description

At Severn Trent, we're embarking on an exciting £415m project to replace 870 miles of old water pipes across the Midlands. This is the biggest investment in water infrastructure in the region in a decade, set to improve water quality, reduce leaks, and make water supply more reliable for millions of people. The new pipes installed will last up to 100 years.

To bring this vision to life, we are creating new jobs across the region, with opportunities for those based in Birmingham, Nottingham, or anywhere in between. Join us to help shape the future of water in the Midlands.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Due to a new programme delivering a full mains renewal across the UK over the next few years, we are now on a significant recruitment drive to scale our teams and deliver this vital work.

This is your opportunity to be part of this exciting transformation!

We are looking for a Assistant Programme Manager who will work closely with Project Coordinators to ensure the mains renewal activity runs smoothly, providing coaching when needed. This role is crucial for maintaining compliance, such as cost tracking and legal paperwork. You will be part of a team of 8, including 4 Assistant Programme Managers and 4 Project Coordinators, reporting to the Programme Manager for one of four regions: North, South, East, or West.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the end-to-end programme, including planning resources, equipment, and forecasting costs and delivery timelines.
  • Writing gated papers for schemes as they progress through the programme.
  • Planning, ordering, and coordinating all plant, equipment, materials, and fittings, liaising with supply chain partners.
  • Supporting the Network Construction Manager to ensure all materials and equipment are costed and arrive on time.
  • Updating SAP and relevant systems with delivery and cost information.
  • Providing support for scope changes, including arranging emergency equipment or tools for onsite teams.
  • Ensuring all documentation, including HSE, CDM, and legal documents, are current and properly collated.
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders, owning end-to-end cost and delivery at the scheme level.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

The ideal candidate will have experience managing multiple large-scale, complex projects. Strong relationship management skills are essential. Experience in the utilities or water industry is advantageous. A full UK driving license is required, as travel across regions will be necessary.
