Overall purpose for this role
- The Junior Project Manager will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of strategic and operational projects across the firm. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to grow their project management career in a fast-paced legal environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the PMO, IT, HR, and Compliance teams to coordinate project activities, maintain documentation, and ensure smooth project execution.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple projects and programs across departments (e.g. Business Management and Legal Teams).
- Take ownership of project administration including scheduling, documentation, and reporting.
- Maintain and update project boards on Monday.com or Excel, track progress, and follow up on outstanding actions.
- Prepare project documentation such as initiation documents, risk registers, and project reports.
- Organise and facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions; prepare agendas, take minutes, and track actions.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external vendors to coordinate project activities, gather requirements, and manage communications.
- Represent the PMO by promoting its services, creating project pitches, and contributing updates to internal communications.
- Support the development and maintenance of project templates, shared folders, and document libraries.
- Assist in the creation and curation of resources and training materials for projects and programs.
- Monitor project timelines and escalate risks or delays to the Senior Project Manager and key stakeholders. Identifying risk mitigation strategies and problem solving for project issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and proactively suggest enhancements to project workflows.
- Take initiative to support additional projects or tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and a can-do attitude.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, data protection, and reporting standards, completing DPIA forms as part of project planning stage.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO.
Person Specification
Essential
- Demonstrated interest in project coordination or management, and knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall and Lean ideally within a professional services or legal environment.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong desire to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
- Eager to contribute beyond core responsibilities and actively seeks opportunities to support the wider team.
- Ability to commit to an ongoing project that is likely to span 18 months - 24 months.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues across departments.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative to identify and resolve issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Relevant qualification at degree level or equivalent experience.
Desirable
- Experience with case management and practice management replacement projects e.g. ShareDo, Elite3E is desirable.
- Qualifications in APM, Prince 2 or equivalent are desirable.
