Salary: £35,200 - £41,167 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Contract type: Permanent full-time role. The working pattern will be varied according to the orchestra schedule.

Location: Office Base is Glasgow.

Job Introduction

The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (BBCSSO) seeks a dedicated and experienced Junior Production Manager to oversee staging, logistical, and technical requirements for performances, broadcasts, and recordings. The role involves ensuring smooth execution of events at City Halls, outside broadcasts, and foreign tours, collaborating with radio and production teams. The role also leads on H&S, noise monitoring, and mitigation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Planning, managing, and supervising all staging, logistical, and technical requirements for performances and recordings at City Halls, outside broadcasts, and foreign tours, in collaboration with radio and production teams.
  • Producing stage plans with Viso software alongside the radio production team.
  • Lay the stage and supervise truck load-ins and outs with freelance crew.
  • Ensure all activities comply with BBC safety standards, including noise awareness and safety practices.
  • Participate in planning meetings to advise, collaborate, and provide solutions affecting rehearsal, performance, recording, or transmission schedules.
  • Coordinate with Glasgow Life, freelancers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth event operations at City Halls and other venues in the UK and abroad.
  • Manage and book freelancers effectively.
  • Supervise noise monitoring using Hydrock systems and Casella meters.
  • Organize the hire of additional instruments and backline with producers and percussion sections.
  • Lead health and safety efforts across venues.
  • Manage venue and instrument stores.
  • Organize truck bookings and maintain good relations with transport providers.
