Job summary

BMI UK&I is seeking a Junior Product Design Engineer to join the Technical Center in Crawley. You will work with senior engineers to translate concepts from CAD through prototyping and site implementation, influencing manufacturing efficiency and product quality.

The role requires 2–5 years’ hands-on experience, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design, and strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor). Willingness to travel within Europe; collaboration across functions; fast learner.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in product development or industrial design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related STEM field.
• Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Practical understanding of common manufacturing processes and prototyping methods.
• Willingness to travel internationally (primarily within Europe) a few times a year.

Responsibilities

• Design & Innovation: Use 2D/3D CAD and simulation tools to develop new roofing products and equipment.
• Prototyping & Testing: Build prototypes and lead field/lab testing to validate designs.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Supply Chain, Marketing, and Operations to define specs.
• Technical Communication: Translate engineering data into clear reports for stakeholders.
• Process Alignment: Ensure designs align with quality systems and standards.
