Junior Product Controller - Associate equivalent - loan products

Location: City of London - candidate would want to be in the office 5 days a week

Reason for Hire:

Significant internal projects have arisen, including implementing new products, reporting processes, and hedge accounting.

Purpose:

Standard daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly deliverables, as well as a significant amount of ad hoc queries. The role involves extensive liaison with Operations, Treasury, Business Management, and Risk Management functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ownership of tasks within daily, monthly, & quarterly P&L production and Balance Sheet review of all Treasury, Loan, and Deposit products.
  2. Assisting the Team Manager with the analysis of FX trading P&L, Hedge Accounting, Hedge Effectiveness testing, reporting, and independent price verification review.
  3. Supporting Balance Sheet Substantiation, ensuring reconciliations are signed off and submitted timely.
  4. Preparing audit packs and responding to auditors' inquiries.
  5. Producing daily P&L reports for review and publication, escalating issues promptly.
  6. Collaborating on financial data and reports for management and Head Office.
  7. Assisting with new product approvals and development of related financial data.
  8. Investigating issues with Finance, Technology, Risk, and Operations teams.
  9. Standardizing documentation and assisting in updates and reviews.
  10. Supporting system upgrades and new product implementations, including understanding product features and cash-flow/valuation analysis.
  11. Contributing to monthly ALCO meetings with financial analysis.
  12. Providing cover for other deliverables as needed within the department.
  13. Performing other duties as reasonably required.
The Successful Applicant
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or CFA preferred)
  • Knowledge of financial products: FX derivatives, interest rate swaps, bonds, money market deposits, and loans
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in P&L control
  • Awareness of industry trends such as Basel capital rules & IBOR transition
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, with good VBA and SQL skills
