We are looking for a Junior Pricing Actuary, based in London or Munich.

The Impact You Will Have

The Junior Pricing Actuary plays a key role in supporting technical excellence within Allianz Commercial by promoting best practices across different business areas. They collaborate with team members and engage in discussions with the business, while maintaining connections with other Actuarial and CFO departments, as well as Group functions. Additionally, the Junior Pricing Actuary provides project support, focusing on the documentation and testing of project deliverables.

Looking ahead, the Junior Pricing Actuary will face challenges related to Solvency II regulation, capital optimization efforts, and the derivative effects on business strategy. The role will also involve participating in detailed business steering efforts.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Prepare and perform Actuarial analysis on technical excellence for assigned business area including documentation, communication, and explanation of results.
  • Project support governance and review initiatives through documentation and testing.
  • Collaborate within Global Pricing and with global functions to develop global actuarial approaches and processes as well as enhance actuarial models and analyses.
  • Peer review work from other team members.
  • Promote close collaboration and interaction with the various business areas (Group, UW, MM, CFO, etc.) to foster mutual understanding of how business developments impact actuarial drivers in the financials.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a comparable discipline.
  • Proficiency with complex multi-national data landscapes and advanced Excel skills, including VBA.
  • Basic experience with SQL; knowledge of Python, R, JavaScript/CSS, Palantir Foundry, and Machine Learning is a plus.
  • Quantitative financial and risk modeling know-how and skills.
  • Finance and Insurance know-how (ideally P&C) as well as understanding of complexities inherent in an insurance group (consolidation processes, legal vs management view) allowing for cross-departmental thinking and acting.
  • A basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in business is essential.
  • Ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences, build strong working relationships, and deliver projects on time.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, organized, and results-oriented, with experience in international environments and managing multiple projects.
  • Proven experience in communication of results to stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g., ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations.
  • Fluent English skills, additional language is a plus.
