Job summary

Websters Rural in Lincolnshire is seeking a Junior Potato Agronomist to join the Agronomy and Innovation team, focusing on crop trials, variety development and quality improvement for growers. You will support best-practice potato agronomy, monitor crop performance, participate in customer-sponsored trials and help deliver new technologies across diverse growing systems.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in agricultural agronomy with foundational knowledge of potato production.
• Currently undertaking BASIS training or recently achieved BASIS qualification.
• Interest in field trials and data management, or prior experience in trial work.
• Ability to develop technical skills to become a respected potato agronomist.
• Strong time management and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
• Comfortable undertaking physical fieldwork including digging and lifting tasks.
• Pragmatic problem-solving abilities with swift decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of best practice agronomy advice to potato growers.
• Monitor crop development and performance alongside the field agronomy and procurement teams.
• Assist with customer-sponsored field research focused on improving yield and quality outcomes.
• Plant, monitor and progressively manage a customer-focused variety development programme.
• Conduct test digging activities before and after desiccation on commercial crops and trials.
• Harvest potato trials and complete post-harvest grading and quality analysis.
• Implement new technologies across varied potato crops and growing systems.
• Provide quality service that consistently meets and exceeds customer expectations.
