One Big Circle in Bristol is seeking a Junior Platform Software Developer to join a fast-growing team working on the AIVR platform. The role focuses on developing skills in large-scale, low-latency data processing and modern web interfaces, with mentorship from senior engineers.

Ideal candidates show curiosity, reliability, and enthusiasm for learning; formal experience isn’t required if you can demonstrate passion through personal projects or open source contributions.

Qualifications

• Passion for learning new skills and curiosity about modern tech stacks.
• Demonstrated projects or CICD pipelines show practical ability.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help create and test software within a skilled team focused on efficiency.
• Learn current and new technologies from experienced engineers.
• Gradually take on more responsibilities within each project.
• Contribute to building capabilities into a scalable data platform guided by senior engineers.

Role Summary

Responsibilities

• Learn a range of current and new technologies from experienced engineers.
• Gradually take on more responsibilities within each project.
• Contribute to building capabilities into an extensive, scalable 4PB+ data platform, guided by senior engineers.
• Gain experience with technologies such as:
  • Python

  • Complex data-platform architecture supporting secure, multi-tenant, partitioned, access-controlled environments
  • Docker & Microservices
  • Modern web applications built with React.js and TypeScript

Personal Qualities and Experience

We are looking for someone who enjoys learning new skills, is reliable, curious, and problem-solving. Confidence in applying from under-represented groups is encouraged. Formal experience isn't required—demonstrating passion through projects such as full-stack web apps, AWS activities, or CICD pipelines is valuable. Basic familiarity with at least one programming language is preferred. You should also be eager to contribute ideas to both business and social aspects of the company.
