Job description

Ballinger & Co. is an independent provider of foreign exchange risk management and trading services to financial institutions and corporate clients with large and complex FX requirements.

We are a fast-growing, well-funded business run by a team of FX specialists who previously built and sold the UK's largest FX broker.

Having launched the business in 2020 and achieved all of our goals to date, we now seek to expand our back-office team with an Operations Specialist who will be trained by our Head of Operations & Trade Support, with scope to progress and specialise as the business grows.

Salary: £25,000.00

Requirements
  • This position plays a pivotal role in Operations, supporting multiple work streams including posting incoming wires, processing outgoing wires, reconciliation, trade verification, and queries.
  • Real-time processing of client instructions, including approving payment information, creating/reviewing beneficiary details, and liaising with clients or internal departments as required.
  • Create, review, approve all payments (domestic & international).
  • Review and amend foreign exchange transactions as needed.
  • Communicate with clients for clarifications on beneficiary instructions or FX trades.
  • Reconcile bank accounts against internal treasury management system.
  • Liaise with the Risk Team to ensure exposure is covered and margin calls are met.
  • Participate in projects and process improvements.
  • Engage in ongoing training and development, including CISI exams.
Key Skills and Competencies
  • Minimum 6 months experience in domestic and/or international payment processing preferred but not mandatory for eager learners.
  • High attention to detail for payment accuracy and prompt delivery.
  • Ability to analyze payment instructions for viability.
  • Ability to work within rules and guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Technical Experience
  • Experience in a Payments Function.
  • Experience in a Reconciliation Function.
  • Understanding of KYC and Client Onboarding.
  • Knowledge of FX Payments industry.
