Job description

We are seeking a proactive and technically curious Network Engineer to join our infrastructure team based in central Belfast. This hands-on role requires a solid understanding of network technologies and operations, with a focus on maintaining network stability and efficiency across various environments, supporting both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor network performance, availability, and latency across critical systems.
  2. Provide Level 1 support for connectivity issues involving external partners and internal users.
  3. Support on-site and co-located clients, resolving routine and urgent issues.
  4. Assist in setting up, testing, and documenting disaster recovery procedures.
  5. Collaborate on deploying new networking solutions.
  6. Manage access controls, user accounts, and permissions.
  7. Track support activities via ticketing platforms, escalating complex issues.
  8. Refine security configurations and monitoring practices.
  9. Offer ad hoc IT support, including hardware troubleshooting.
  10. Support remote troubleshooting via email, messaging, and calls.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  1. Degree in Networking, Computing, IT Systems, or related field.
  2. 1-3 years of experience in network administration or support.
  3. Knowledge of routing, switching, subnets, firewalls, VPNs.
  4. Experience with Cisco, Arista, or Palo Alto hardware is advantageous.
  5. Understanding of cloud networking environments is a plus.
  6. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  7. Experience with monitoring, documentation, and user management tools.
  8. Certifications like CCNA are beneficial but not mandatory.
  9. Familiarity with multicast, enterprise backup tools, or NOC environments is a bonus.
  10. Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
  11. Ability to balance technical tasks with project work.
