Job summary

Marks & Spencer in London seeks an experienced Merchandiser to drive department and range planning, forecasting, and stock management across UK and International channels. You will collaborate with Design, Buying, Sourcing and Finance to optimise sales and profitability.

You will lead quarterly reviews, develop long-term plans, and implement standardised processes to maximise opportunities while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• Strong Merchandising skills including managing GSM, development of Department Plan, stock / commitment management, creating sales estimates, and production plans.
• Strong Knowledge of the end to end buy to store process
• Negotiation skills (managing in season unplanned costs)
• Able to utilise IT support systems (Range Planner, SSI, GMOR) and standard business desktop applications
• Strong numerical, analytical and interpretive skills
• Ability to initiate and build strong relationships with Design, Buying and Technology
• Strong interpersonal/ communication skills
• Influencing (internal & external)
• Leadership potential

Responsibilities

• Support the Merchandiser in strategy and targets for sales and stock forecasts by channel
• Analyse sales to identify winners and losers and take action with stakeholders
• Create accurate long-term and short-term department or range forecasts
• Plan products quarterly across all channels including International
• Book quantities to meet launches and respond to in-season variables
• Lead department plan reviews and lessons learned
• Maintain Range Planner listings
• Collaborate with Sourcing to manage global production plans
• Provide input to Space Planning for layout plans to stores
• Monitor competition and inform price point strategy and catalogue decisions
• Adopt One Best Way of working for standardisation across BUs
• Maintain communication with retail, channels, allocation, suppliers, sourcing offices and international
• Support International team to maximise M&S departmental sales during International Buying events
• Mentor line reports such as MAA
