Job summary

Marks & Spencer is seeking an Assistant Merchandiser for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Greater London. The role supports the Merchandiser and Buying teams in planning, forecasting and executing range strategies across UK and international channels.

You will analyse sales data, manage stock and production plans, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive sales and profitability while maintaining brand standards.

Qualifications

• Core merchandising skills including managing GSM, development of Department Plan, stock / commitment management, creating sales estimates, and production plans.
• Knowledge of end-to-end buy-to-store process.
• Negotiation skills (managing in-season costs).
• Knowledge of M&S brand and sub-brand strategy.
• Proficiency with IT tools and standard business applications.

Responsibilities

• Support the Merchandiser in agreeing strategy and targets for range sales and stock forecasts by channel.
• Analyse sales to identify winners/losers and take actions with stakeholders to maximise sales.
• Assist Merchandiser and Buying team to plan products for each quarter across channels including International.
• Book quantities to meet launches and respond to in-season variables UK and International.
• Maintain departmental documentation for sale periods and markdown plans.
• Maintain Range Planner listings and collaborate with Sourcing Offices on global production plans.
• Provide information to Space Planning & Development for layout plans.
• Monitor competition to inform price points and catalogue strategy.
• Communicate with retail, channels, allocation, suppliers and international teams.
• Implement new systems and processes.
• Assist International team during International Buying events.
