Job description

At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world’s leading manufacturers.

Tata Technologies’ PLM / Digital Enterprise Solutions (DES) business partners with global automotive OEMs and manufacturers to transform product development through PLM, CAD, BOM & configuration management, digital thread, engineering analytics and enterprise integration/data platforms. Sustained growth in this space depends on anticipating where the market is moving like software-defined vehicles, electrification, agentic AI, model-based engineering, cloud PLM and data-driven engineering and converting those signals into credible, differentiated offerings ahead of the demand curve.

We are seeking a Junior Market Research Consultant to act as the research and strategy engine for the PLM team. The role will systematically track automotive, manufacturing and technology trends, OEM investment priorities, competitor moves and platform vendor roadmaps, and translate them into a credible solution backlog, compelling use cases, consulting-grade presentations and eventually qualified sales opportunities.

The role is research-led but outcome-driven. The incumbent will not simply report on the market, they will build the evidence base, business cases and narratives that enable Sales and Delivery leadership to open new conversations, shape proactive proposals and win differentiated work with OEMs across the UK, Europe and other regions.

This is an onsite UK-based position. The role requires regular face-to-face presence at TTL and customer locations in the UK Midlands to build trusted relationships with OEM stakeholders, participate in discovery workshops and leadership sessions, and represent Tata Technologies at UK and European industry forums. Candidates must hold an existing right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities:
  • Continuously track automotive and manufacturing industry trends including electrification, software-defined vehicles, model-based systems engineering, digital thread, sustainability/compliance, cost and cycle-time pressures, and regional market dynamics.
  • Monitor the technology landscape across PLM, CAD, ALM, ERP/MES integration, cloud, data platforms, analytics and AI/agentic capabilities, including vendor roadmaps (Dassault Systèmes, Siemens, PTC, SAP and adjacent players).
  • Analyse OEM annual reports, investor presentations, technology announcements, job postings and public programme information to identify investment direction and unmet needs.
  • Maintain a structured, reusable knowledge base of research findings, sources, evidence and insights accessible to the wider practice.
  • Translate market and client needs into a credible solution backlog of offerings, accelerators, consulting studies and service propositions for the PLM team.
  • Author compelling use cases articulating business problem, proposed solution, capabilities required, benefits, KPIs and indicative effort/value.
  • Work with Solution Architects and Product Owners to validate technical feasibility, delivery approach and reusability of proposed offerings.
  • Create boardroom-ready presentations, executive summaries, point-of-view papers, whitepapers and thought‑leadership content backed by sound research and strategic reasoning.
  • Develop visual storytelling assets – market maps, capability and maturity matrices, quadrants, roadmaps and value-chain views that make complex insight immediately usable.
  • Prepare briefing packs, question banks and Q&A material for discovery workshops, client leadership meetings and industry engagements.
  • Present findings and recommendations to internal leadership and, where required, to client stakeholders with clarity, credibility and impact.
  • Facilitating ceremonies for the team like Spring Planning, Retrospective, Reviews, Stand up etc.
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example.
  • Mentors, coaches and develops individual team members and the team as a whole.
  • Work closely with Area Product owner, Product owner, department head, customer programme management.
  • Tracks and communicates the overall progress of the scrum teams delivery and team KPIs (using Burn-downs, burn-ups, Cumulative Flow, Velocity etc.).
  • Conduct internal training on Agile practices for existing and new team members.
Strategic Contribution
  • Provide inputs into the account growth strategy, offering roadmap, capability build plans and go-to-market priorities.
  • Identify capability and skill gaps arising from emerging market demand and recommend build, buy or partner options.
  • Establish repeatable research methods, templates, cadence and governance so that market intelligence becomes an ongoing capability rather than a one-off exercise.
Experience
  • Strong academic record from a reputable university with degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Management, Data Science or a related analytical discipline. Recent graduates are welcomed and encouraged to apply.
  • Either prior experience, or demonstrable strong interest, in market research, industry analysis, strategy consulting or solutioning within engineering, technology or manufacturing services.
  • Genuine and evidenced interest in the automotive industry, its value chain, OEM product development lifecycle, engineering functions and current transformation themes such as electrification, software-defined vehicles and sustainability.
  • Curiosity about the enterprise engineering technology landscape PLM, CAD, ALM, BOM and configuration management, digital thread, MBSE, data platforms, analytics and the appetite and ability to build working knowledge quickly.
  • Awareness of emerging technology trends including AI/ML, generative AI and agentic AI, with the ability to reason about where they create practical value in engineering and manufacturing rather than repeat the hype
  • Aptitude for converting research and market signals into commercial ideas – opportunities, offerings, use cases and business cases – demonstrable through academic projects, internships, dissertations, competitions or prior work.
  • Ability to produce high-quality written and visual deliverables such as executive decks, point-of-view papers, market maps and value cases, or clear evidence of the underlying capability.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesise ambiguous information into clear, defensible recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, storytelling and presentation skills in English.
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, and comfort building models, trackers, dashboards and visual frameworks.
  • High energy, intellectual curiosity, self-direction and able to work with limited supervision, take ownership and shape a research agenda against business priorities.
  • Collaborative and coachable, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders and the humility to learn from them.
Preferred:
  • Internship, placement year, industrial year or graduate scheme experience within automotive, engineering services, technology or management consulting.
  • Exposure to automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers, or to PLM platforms such as 3DEXPERIENCE, Teamcenter or Windchill.
  • Awareness of AI and GenAI applied to engineering, and the ability to reason about credible AI-enabled use cases.
  • Experience with analyst subscriptions and research tools (Gartner, IDC, S&P Global Mobility, LMC, Statista or equivalent) and structured competitive intelligence methods.
If you are passionate about bringing innovation to the projects you work on and want to join a global company, then this is the place for you.
