Job summary

TT Electronics Bedlington is seeking a Junior Engineer to join the manufacturing engineering team, focusing on wire bonding technologies and supporting high-reliability microelectronic devices for various sectors.

You will work with senior engineers to monitor processes, apply data-driven improvements, and contribute to new package qualification and production transfer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Foundational understanding of microelectronics / semiconductor assembly & packaging, or materials science.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise wire bonding manufacturing processes.
  • Apply Six Sigma and SPC tools to analyse production data, identify root causes of defects, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Assist in the qualification, prototyping, and transfer of new microelectronic packages from prototype to full-scale production.
  • Support preventive maintenance, set up, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Create and maintain robust engineering documentation.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance, Test Engineering, and Production teams to meet stringent customer specifications and delivery schedules.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

TT Electronics, Bedlington, have an exciting new opportunity for a Junior Engineer to join our manufacturing engineering team, working alongside senior process engineers, equipment technicians, and Quality to support the manufacturing of high-reliability microelectronic devices for aerospace, automotive, medical, or defence applications.

With the full support of your line manager, coupled with comprehensive training, your core focus will be on wire bonding technologies.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

What We're Looking For:

  • A bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Foundational understanding of microelectronics / semiconductor assembly & packaging, or materials science.

The following would enhance your application but are not essential to apply:

  • Previous experience involving cleanrooms, semiconductor manufacturing, or automated machinery.
  • Basic knowledge of DOE (Design of Experiments) and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and statistical methods (e.g., Minitab, Python, JMP, or SPC).
