About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, the Junior Management Accountant will be a key member in our finance team of 6, supporting the team in all aspects of financial administration and reporting for our 5 UK legal entities.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the correct recording and payment of all payable invoices including:
- Ensuring proper review & authorisation
- Reviewing invoice uploads through Dext to confirm correct mapping and data population for automated booking into Xero including review of correct accounting and VAT treatment
- Responsible for ensuring all bills and other payments (including payroll related costs and taxes) are paid on time by preparation of timely payment runs, accurate input into HSBC and ensuring authorisations occur on time.
- Managing the invoices inbox and responding to queries
- Monthly Management accounts preparation including:
- Preparation of revenue recognition journal
- Maintenance of prepayment and accruals listings and monthly journal postings
- Fixed Asset reconciliations in Xero and posting of depreciation
- Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations (including regular control account reconciliations)
- Preparation of the monthly management reporting pack
- Preparation of management recharge journals
- Monthly intercompany reconciliation
- Monthly reporting to our insurance provider
- Maintaining actuals in the cashflow forecast
- Responsible for Payroll including;
- Liaising with our external payroll provider, ensuring all monthly changes are reflected correctly in the payroll calculation
- Preparing the payroll report and reviewing monthly movements
- Preparation of monthly journal entry
- Ensuring payroll is paid correctly and on time
- Ensuring all payroll taxes are paid correctly and on time
- Responsible for the Company Pension;
- Reporting joiners and leavers to our Pension provider, any pension reporting requirements are completed correctly and on time
- Responsible for the preparation of the quarterly VAT returns liaising with our external tax accountants for the timely completion of their reviews and providing any support required
- Processing expenses and company card reconciliations, including review for compliance with policies
- Daily Bank reconciliations
- Support on the annual external audit
- Support wider finance team on year end process and compliance projects
- Support on other commercial projects and initiatives
- Continues process improvement
- Other ad hoc projects as required
- Requirements
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all financial tasks.
- Experience in a similar role including month end close journal entries and VAT returns
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
