Job summary

Pursuit-Resources-Group on behalf of a leading science employer in Witham is recruiting an Entry Level Laboratory Assistant for an immediate start on a fixed-term 5-month contract, with a strong opportunity to go permanent.

No prior experience required; you must have a genuine interest in science, be highly organized, and able to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy. Full training will be provided; salary £24,960–£26,256 per annum plus 10% shift allowance.

Qualifications

• Ability to prepare and weigh samples with speed and accuracy, with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work in an organised and disciplined manner.
• Must hold a valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake consistent and accurate laboratory weighing techniques and manipulation skills.
• Ensure that all assigned work is carried out in conformance with instructions, established methods, and quality standards.
• Demonstrate a consistent understanding of material types and their relevant sample preparation requirements.
• If holding a current driving licence, act as a porter to other company units on the estate using the company van.
• Learn and apply the role and importance of UKAS ISO 17025 and ISO 9001:2000 within the laboratory.
• Ensure equipment is used efficiently and effectively and maintained where directed.
• Maintain good housekeeping and a clean, safe, and tidy laboratory environment.
• Carry out other duties as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Assist the Team Leader in weighing analytical samples to a high degree of accuracy and within preset times.
• Report to the Supervisor any deviations from, or failures of, methods, systems, and procedures.
