Please note this is a full time role workingTuesday to Saturday 09:30 to 17:30. The training shift pattern will beMonday to Friday 09:30 till 17:30.

This is a great opportunity to join a food testing microbiology laboratory as a Junior Laboratory Analyst, the duties will involve:

• Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis
• Sample preparation in line with company protocols
• Microbiological analysis of water/food/feed/swabs samples in line with company protocols
• Training and operation of relevant equipment
• General housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contamination
• Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system
• Effective communication with all employees
• Report any anomalous results or situations to Line Manager
• Adhere to Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory
• Collection of laboratory samples from customer sites (food only, when required)
• Any other related activities as required by post

Qualifications

• Computer literate with experience of MS Office applications (in particular Excel).
• Comfortable working in a busy environment.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
• It is desirable to have a degree in a related scientific field and to have experience of culture of microorganisms /knowledge of laboratory accreditation systems (ideally ISO 17025).
