Junior Java Developer

Overview

We are looking for development professionals to build systems utilising Java based technology.

This role will be based out of Expleo's Belfast Office in Northern Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Takes part in designing, developing, and testing applications where relevant, in accordance with established standards. Manages the packaging and supports deployment of releases.
• Be part of a development team building software to specific requirements.
• Anticipates potential problems and directs or develops solutions needed to resolve them.
• Be able to engage directly with the customers to discuss technical options and future plans.
• Help monitor changes to the existing code base to ensure on-going supportability and robustness of software solutions.
• Aid project manager / team lead in breaking down functional requirements into explicit programming tasks and provide estimates where required.
• Communicate project progress, timelines, and impact of changes clearly to project manager / team lead.
• Help diagnose bugs and offer workarounds to customers.
• Keep up to date with latest developments in technology.
• Inputs into proof of concept exercises and assists sales with pre-sales collateral.
• Contributes to department strategy, people/career management and recruitment.
• Responsible to maintain the agreed KPI’s & SLAs.
• May need to contribute to the Graduate scheme in terms of leading/mentoring/teaching.
• Support Incident management & reporting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject or comparable experience.

Experience

• Good knowledge of the various technologies including one or more of the following (Java, SQL, Node JS, HTML 5, CSS 3, Object Oriented JavaScript, Python, Twitter Bootstrap, J2EE, JSP, Servlets, JDBC, XML, UML, jQuery, AJAX).
• Some knowledge of OOP and common design patterns. (Desirable)
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum/TDD (Desirable).
• Experience of DevOps CI/CD pipeline (Desirable).

What do I need before I apply

• Hybrid working with 2 - 3 days in the office.
