Job Introduction

Job Title: Junior IT Engineer

Location: Northampton Head Office

Period of Contract: Permanent

Reporting to: IT Operations Manager

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm or 8:00am – 5:00pm

We are looking for a Junior IT Engineer. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager you will work within a small highly skilled IT engineering team to provide support for IT/Telephony systems within our company. You will have a wide scope of general IT infrastructure skills and experience in the pursuit of delivering a high standard of work to both the user communities and change projects.

This role demands good technical skills with the ability to support, maintain and operate systems. You will work as part of a team but with the ability to take responsibility and accountability for independent work packages. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in projects and innovate whilst running all day to day support activities.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Provide First Line IT support on a day-to-day basis
  • Ensure that calls are answered in a timely manner
  • Record all tickets on our Service Desk System with sufficient information
  • Ensuring that IT support requests & incidents are dealt with promptly & resolved within the agreed SLA
  • Proven record of closing 30+ tickets per day
  • Support system changes and project work independent to day-to-day support activities
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Out of hours installations
  • Ability to prioritise mission critical vs non critical
  • Prepared to travel in main land UK when requested

Skills Qualifications And Knowledge Required

Office Work

  • Answering IT calls
  • Logging IT incidents
  • 1st time fixes, e.g. password resets
  • Basic replacement equipment setup/dispatch
  • Basic phone changes
  • Training IT apprentices
  • Fix more complex incidents (Monitor number of closed incidents)
  • Moderate replacement equipment setup/dispatch

Working at remote sites

  • Moderate on site fixes
  • VOIP installations
  • Firewall installations
  • Moderate level on site fixes
  • Thin Client installs
    • Exact, bitewing Xray only sites
General
