Role Purpose

The Junior HR Advisor will play a key role in supporting the HR Business Partner (HRBP) and HR Advisor (HRA) in a fast paced and dynamic HR Team, to deliver a full generalist HR service to our stations in Scotland. The post holder will take ownership of ensuring they keep up to date with developments in employment law, company policies and procedures and HR Best Practice.

What you will be doing

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate HR records, including personnel files, contracts, and employee changes.
  • Respond to HR-related queries from employees and managers, offering advice on company policies, procedures, and employment law within a remit agreed with HRBP and HR Advisor.
  • Hold regular “HR surgeries” in break rooms and offices.
  • Support the HR team with recruitment activities, including job postings, screening applications, and scheduling interviews.
  • Participate in various local and national HR projects, including employee engagement, HR system implementation, and policy development.

What we are looking for

  • Experience in advising and supporting line managers.
  • Experience in HR administration and system navigation and competent with standard IT packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams etc.).
  • Ideally experience in a fast-paced customer focused environment with a mix of blue/white collar workers.
  • Experience partnering with line managers and middle managers, and handling employee relations issues within this environment.
  • Broad understanding of the technical and functional components of Human Resources, including: employment law, employee relations, compliance management in a large organization, compensation, employee relations, recruitment, talent management, absence management, organizational planning, leadership development, coaching, training, engagement and building trust.
  • CiPD level 3 or 5 professional qualification (desirable).
