Job Description:

We are looking for a Junior Technologist, Childrenswear, to support the technical team of a leading Brand. The successful candidate will deliver efficient technical processes and drive product quality across children’s garments and accessories. They will collaborate with buying and design teams to ensure products are technically feasible and align with pricing structures, providing ongoing technical input daily.

Ideally, this is a full-time role, but depending on experience, our client is open to considering part-time hours.

What will you do as a Junior Technologist?

  1. Ensure adherence to the sealing process from prototype to production sign-off, including critical path management.
  2. Work with design and buying teams during product development to achieve 'right first time' samples.
  3. Manage product testing, safety labelling, and sustainable credentials for all products.
  4. Apply a Quality Assurance approach to all tasks.
  5. Review and ensure product compliance at the category level.
  6. Assess technical capabilities of suppliers through product evaluation and site visits.
  7. Raise issues with line managers and develop solutions.
  8. Support risk assessments to ensure products are feasible, safe, and legal.
  9. Collaborate with suppliers to optimize production methods for quality and cost-effectiveness.
  10. Understand and apply block/size requirements across products.
  11. Enhance product fit, construction, and performance to meet customer expectations.
  12. Conduct market research on current and new products and labels.
  13. Coordinate with the distribution center, buying, merchandising, and suppliers to resolve issues promptly and implement CAPs.
  14. Monitor offshore production in liaison with offices.

What will you need to succeed as our Junior Technologist?

  • Degree or equivalent in textile-related qualification.
  • Experience with childrenswear and/or accessories, understanding commercial trading requirements.
  • Knowledge of sustainable fabrics and certifications.
  • Passion for the Brand and delivering quality products to customers.
