Confidential, based in Barking, is seeking a Junior Financial Accountant to join a growing construction and property business. The role offers hands-on experience across purchase ledger, journals, reconciliations, and management reporting, with training and professional development support.

You will work with an experienced finance team, gain exposure to multiple accounting areas, and have clear long-term progression opportunities as you develop your finance career with ongoing study support.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a finance or accounts environment.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and IT skills.
• GCSEs or A-Levels in Maths and English.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and motivated individual to join a well-established construction and property business as a Junior Financial Accountant. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop a successful career within finance, gaining hands-on experience across multiple areas of accounting while receiving ongoing training and professional development support.

Working closely with an experienced finance team and senior finance professionals, you will be exposed to a broad range of accounting responsibilities, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress beyond a traditional accounts assistant position.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger & Reconciliations

• Managing purchase ledger processes and supplier payments.


• Completing supplier statement reconciliations.


• Assisting with month-end reconciliations.


• Supporting bank reconciliations and petty cash administration.


• Processing and reconciling employee expenses.

Accounting Support

• Posting journals and supporting wider accounting activities.


• Assisting with subcontractor payment processing and verification.


• Supporting management accounting processes.


• Calculating and posting internal cost recharges.


• Maintaining accurate financial records and databases.

Finance & Business Support

• Maintaining compliance records and financial documentation.


• Supporting senior finance staff with ad-hoc projects and reporting requirements.


• Taking ownership of additional responsibilities as the role develops.


• Working collaboratively across different departments within the business.

Systems & IT Support

• Providing basic office and systems support following training.


• Assisting colleagues with day-to-day technology-related queries.


• Supporting ongoing improvements to business processes and systems.

About You

• Previous experience within a finance or accounts environment.


• Strong Microsoft Excel and general IT skills.


• GCSEs or A-Levels in Maths and English.


• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
