Qualifications

  • Qualified electrician with NVQ Level 3 and experience in electrical installation.

Job description

Astute's Renewables team is exclusively partnering with a utility scale solar O&M company to recruit a Junior Field Service Engineer for its sites in the Midlands.


This role comes with a salary of £30,000 - £36,000 DOE, company van and provides an excellent opportunity to move into the utility scale solar world.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Assisting with planned inspection and maintenance according to legal, technical, manufacturer and contractual requirements.
  2. Learning around reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and standard operating procedures.
  3. Performing reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and resolution in a timely manner.
  4. Carrying out site surveys requests as required.
  5. Compiling accurate and appropriate documentation for both internal and external stakeholders in a precise and timely manner.
  6. Keeping accurate and detailed records of electrical testing, High Voltage and safety documents that are suitable for audit.
  7. Ensuring that work output meets technical quality, reliability, cost, and productivity.
  8. Complying with the company Health & Safety Policy.

Professional Qualifications

  1. NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualifications or equivalent.
  2. 17th/18th (preferably) edition wiring regulations.
  3. Ideally at least a year's experience in electrical installation/maintenance work in either an industrial, commercial or even domestic capacity.
  4. Full UK licence.

Personal Skills

The Junior Field Service Engineer role would suit someone who is:

  1. Keen to get into renewables with a real passion for renewable technologies such as solar PV, battery storage etc.
  2. Happy to travel around to sites in a field-based role.

Salary and Benefits

Salary of between £30,000 to £36,000 DOE (the upper end is for someone with more working experience and likely for those with some solar).
