Job description

AstralPool UK Ltd are looking for a Junior Estimator to join their dynamic team.

In the role of Junior Estimator, you will support the Projects Team in preparing accurate costs estimates for projects. This is an entry level position for someone with a strong numerical aptitude and a desire to grown within the wet leisure industry.

AstralPool is one of the most recognised, respected, trusted and prominent distributors and manufacturers of all pool-related products in the UK pool market space, and are based in Fareham, Portsmouth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing cost estimates, tracking and reporting changes to estimates and supporting the necessary preparations involved.

The job includes:

  • Assisting in preparing cost estimates for materials, labour and equipment
  • Analysing project drawings, specifications and other documentation to prepare time and cost estimates
  • Supporting the preparation of tender and bid submissions
  • Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and quotations
  • Maintaining and up to date cost database and estimating tools
  • Participating in site visits and meetings to gather project specific information
  • Collaborating with the Technical Director, engineers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive estimates
  • Tracking and reporting to estimate changes and project cost performance.

What experience would the ideal candidate have?

  • Previous experience of working in the Swimming Pool industry would be desirable but not essential
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
  • Basic understanding of construction methods and project lifecycles
  • Familiarity with local building codes and safety regulations
  • Familiarity with reading technical drawings and specifications
  • Experience with cost estimation of internships in a related field is an advantageous.
