Job summary

Workforce People and Data Ltd is seeking a Trainee Quantity Surveyor / Estimator near Ilkeston, Derbyshire. This entry-level role offers full training and ongoing mentoring to develop skills in estimating, cost planning and commercial management within the electrical and construction sector.

You will assist with pricing, review drawings and tender documents, obtain supplier quotes, measure quantities and prepare cost breakdowns.

Qualifications

• Interest in construction, electrical contracting or commercial management.
• Good numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Willingness to learn and develop in a team environment.
• Confidence using Excel and standard Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of estimates and quotations.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Obtain prices from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Measure quantities and prepare cost breakdowns.
• Support the preparation and submission of tenders.
• Assist with project cost monitoring and variations.
• Prepare basic valuations and commercial reports.
• Maintain accurate tender and project records.
• Work with contracts managers, engineers and site teams.
• Attend site visits and project meetings when required.
