Job Title: Junior Estimator

The Junior Estimator Role

PSR Solutions are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality earthworks and groundworks projects across the Midlands and surrounding areas. Due to continued growth and a healthy pipeline of work, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our commercial team.

Responsibilities of the Junior Estimator

  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for a range of projects, including groundworks, earthworks, drainage, roads, and infrastructure packages.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate quantities and pricing.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain up-to-date pricing and technical information.
  • Help prepare take-offs and Bills of Quantities using standard industry software.
  • Work closely with Estimators, Quantity Surveyors, and Project Managers to understand project requirements.
  • Maintain and update the estimating database and resource libraries.
  • Support in the handover of successful tenders to the delivery team.
  • Participate in tender review meetings and provide input as required.

The ideal Junior Estimator will be

  • Ideally educated to HNC/HND or Degree level in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar (or working towards).
  • Some experience in a construction or estimating environment is desirable but not essential - recent graduates or trainees welcome to apply.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard MS Office applications.
  • Experience with estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, or similar) is beneficial but not essential - training provided.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and take on increasing responsibility over time.
