The Role:

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Junior Analyst to join M&G’s Equity Research team in the Financials sector. M&G’s Equity Research team supports our global and regional fund management teams by providing independent, actionable insights and stock recommendations that help drive investment performance across our whole Equities business.

You will work directly with the team’s experienced Senior Global Banks Analyst and Head of Equity Research, supporting his coverage of global banks and financials while also developing your own skills and profile as an analyst.

This position will offer you learning and mentorship to accelerate your development as a Banks/Financials analyst with primary responsibility for stocks that we invest in. Your contributions will directly influence our investment decisions from the start. There is also plenty of future runway for career development.

Ultimately this is a global role on a team of senior and experienced analysts that provides highly valued investment recommendations and research across the full breadth of our equity investment strategies at M&G.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will support the senior analyst in the coverage of his sector on a daily basis, within a wider team of 12 central equity research analysts. You will also contribute to the work and success of the wider Equity Research team.
  • You will undertake specific stock and sector research, initially under the supervision and mentorship of the senior analyst. This work will be both to support existing holdings and to find new long term core holdings across our range of high conviction equity strategies.
  • You will write clear and succinct content for stock review reports, ad hoc analysis and presentations.
  • You will develop and interpret company financial models; and to organise and interpret investment data to help reach conclusions.
  • You will participate in relevant company management meetings, and help to prepare questions and analysis in advance.
  • You will build and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders from across the business, including our fund managers, private asset and credit analyst teams.
  • You will develop your primary analyst skills, in order to take on full ownership of selected stocks within the global Banks/Financials sector.
  • You will always act in a regulatory compliant manner and uphold the highest standards of business and personal ethics.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Strong academic background, educated to degree level.
  • Experience as an equity analyst. Ideally experience of the Global Banks/Financials sector specifically.
  • High integrity and strong interpersonal skills. A positive, collegial attitude and high level of professionalism are essential.
  • Proven numerical skills, analytical curiosity and rigorous attention to detail.
  • Proactive and adaptable problem solver who is self-motivated, able to think laterally and willing to take a differentiated perspective.
  • Highly organised and able to thrive in a time-pressured role.
  • Able to work independently but collaborate both within and across teams.
  • Interest in markets, economics and politics, with a passion for learning, and a willingness to own one’s own development.
  • Exceptional communication/presentation skills with a strong command of the English language (verbal and written skills).
  • Strong in Excel and ideally somewhat experienced in Bloomberg.
