Job summary

Group Metropolitan in London is seeking a Junior Electrical Estimator to join the Commercial team and support growing bid activity. You will attend external site visits with clients, suppliers and subcontractors and reflect a professional image while confirming bids with clients.

The role requires an electrical contracting background, experience in estimating and quoting, and the ability to manage own workload.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates and proposals used to secure new business.
• Establish new tender opportunities by understanding job specifications and drawings.
• Accurately calculate take-offs from drawings including materials and hours.
• Maintain the approved suppliers list.
• Attend site/tender walkthroughs to identify proactive solutions and align bids with client needs.
• Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers for competitive pricing.
• Participate in site reviews, tender reviews and hand-overs as needed.
• Support the Estimating manager in their role.

About the role

We require a Junior Electrical Estimator to join the Commercial team to aid in our continued expansion. The right candidate needs to be driven, self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative when under pressure whilst also being a positive collaborator within a tight team. Experience in Electrical Estimating would be an advantage in addition working within building services industry would be desirable. The candidate will be required to attend external site visits with our Clients, Suppliers & Subcontractors and reflect a positive professional image as well as the confidence to clarify bids with our clients.

Hours: 7:00am – 4:00pm or 8:00am – 5:00pm

Location: Canary Wharf & site Based

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates and proposals used to secure new business.
• Establish new tender opportunities by understanding job specifications and drawings.
• Accurately calculate take-offs from drawings including materials and hours.
• Maintaining the approved suppliers list.
• Attend site/tender walkthroughs to cross reference drawings to identify proactive solutions and avoid potential site interferences where required.
• Understanding of the planning and sequencing of construction of projects.
• Communication with client to clarify unclear specifications/wording through RFI's.
• Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing used for bid submission.
• Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-over and project close out meetings as needed.
• Support the Estimating manager with their role.

• Proficient in MS Office, word and excel, and other related computer programs
• Full UK Driving license with the ability to attend site/tender walkthroughs covering the London Area
