Job description

The Client: Multi-disciplinary Building Services consultant founded in 1997 offering the full range of MEP services nationwide from their 4 UK offices. Senior staff drive projects from feasibility through to delivery across sectors such as data centres, retail outlets, care homes, schools, and offices.

The Role: Providing design and technical advice on projects for the respective discipline. Offering professional and technical consulting and design services to clients, including site surveys, meetings, feasibility studies, due diligence, design, technical reports, specifications, commissioning, and defects inspections. Assist with multiple projects, meeting deadlines and budget requirements. Work under direction and interpret project needs, taking a discipline lead on smaller projects as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Coordinate with all design team members, internal and external, providing excellent client care and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  2. Understand project scope and limitations following a briefing.
  3. Be aware of project costs and their impact on the overall budget, monitoring time and costs.
  4. Take ownership of workload to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  5. Attend meetings to represent the discipline and communicate with other disciplines and clients professionally.
  6. Arrange and conduct site surveys, preparing reports accordingly.
  7. Demonstrate technical and report writing skills.
  8. Handle day-to-day site queries related to the discipline, reporting to clients or senior team members.
  9. Perform condition surveys and compile reports for clients.
  10. Contribute to feasibility studies for projects.
  11. Produce designs, calculations, data sheets, schedules, specifications, and other technical documents, coordinating with the CAD Department.
  12. Understand project risks and produce residual risk reports complying with CDM regulations.
  13. Promote sustainability and energy efficiency in designs, discussing systems with senior team members.
  14. Conduct defect inspections, snagging, and assist with commissioning witness testing.
  15. Ensure work compliance with good practice and project brief, raising concerns or variations as needed.
  16. Review as-fitted drawings and O&M documents.
  17. Provide excellent client care, supporting business development and continuous improvement.
