Job summary

Get Staffed Online Recruitment Limited is seeking a Junior Electrical Draftsperson in Wellington, Somerset. This office-based, permanent role is 40 hours per week (Mon-Fri) with a salary of £27,000 to £35,000 per year, depending on experience. Start date ASAP.

You will join a growing design team and work closely with an experienced Lead Electrical Designer, learning how electrical schematics, control panels and industrial equipment are designed and developed in the real world.

Qualifications

• Some electrical or CAD experience.
• Ideally an HNC/HND/BTEC or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or related subject.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts under supervision.
• Assist with control panel layouts and component placement.
• Learn relevant electrical standards and regulations.
• Help produce and maintain bills of materials for PLCs, relays and wiring.
• Maintain drawing revisions and technical documentation.
• Support panel fabrication by answering drawing questions and making changes.
• Work with suppliers to confirm component specs.
• Participate in design reviews and apply feedback.

You will join a growing design team and work closely with an experienced Lead Electrical Designer, learning how electrical schematics, control panels and industrial equipment are designed and developed in the real world.

What You'll Be Doing

You will support the electrical design process, producing and maintaining drawings and documentation while developing your knowledge of industrial control panel design.

Your role will include:

• Creating and revising electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layout drawings under the guidance of the Lead Electrical Designer.
• Supporting control panel layouts, including component placement, wire routing and enclosure layouts.
• Learning and applying relevant electrical standards and regulations.
• Helping to produce and maintain bills of materials for components including PLCs, relays, breakers, terminal blocks and wiring.
• Maintaining drawing revisions and keeping technical documentation accurate and organised.
• Supporting the panel fabrication process by answering drawing‑related questions and making instructed changes.
• Working with suppliers to confirm component specifications.
• Taking part in design reviews and using feedback to improve your work.
• As your experience develops, you will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and build deeper expertise in electrical design and industrial control systems.

What You'll Bring

You may already have some practical experience, or you could be at the beginning of your career following college, university, an apprenticeship or other technical training.

Ideally, you will have an HNC, HND, BTEC or other relevant qualification in electrical or electronic engineering, electrical drafting or a related subject. Equivalent hands‑on experience will also be considered.

You should also bring:

• Some exposure to electrical schematics or CAD drafting, whether through education, an apprenticeship, placement or work experience.
• Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical or something similar.
• Strong attention to detail.
• An organised and methodical approach to your work.
• The willingness to follow established processes and standards carefully.
• The confidence to ask questions when something is unclear rather than make assumptions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• A genuine willingness to learn and develop.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
