About the Opportunity

The Technology, Consultancy & Innovation (TC&I) Business owns and operates the largest network of research and development engineering laboratories in the UK. We work collaboratively with colleagues and clients across various sectors, providing solutions to complex problems—from hydrogen, fusion, and Small Modular Reactors to support decommissioning, existing nuclear and non-nuclear infrastructure, and defense.

This position is ideal for someone recently qualified, seeking to gain further professional experience working with a team of EHS professionals. It is a professional entry-level position, ideally with a few years of experience, reporting directly to the Head of EHS.

You will provide safety advice and assistance on all Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) issues to support operations teams and the campus facilities management team at Birchwood Campus. The role requires understanding and working with Management Systems aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

Additional Key Responsibilities
  • Advising and supporting hazard identification, the preparation, and implementation of safe systems of work and risk assessments.
  • Monitoring compliance with EHS standards; conducting scheduled campus inspections, recommending, and following up on corrective actions.
  • Advising and supporting the campus facilities management team in EHS responsibilities.
  • Reviewing and monitoring contractor EHS compliance and site permit compliance.
  • Assisting in accident and incident investigations for root cause analysis and preventive actions.
  • Supporting internal EHS training and coaching sessions for new and existing employees and supply chain members.

Qualifications Needed
  • A relevant Health and Safety qualification (NVQ 4/5 or NEBOSH General Certificate) and Tech/Grad IOSH or working towards higher qualification.
  • A good working knowledge of EHS requirements.
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation methods.
  • Practical understanding of EHS legislation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
