Job summary

Business Comparison, part of the Bionic group, is seeking a Junior Developer in Chester to join a four-person team. You’ll work across customer-facing journeys, internal platforms and business-critical services, writing PHP and Laravel code, and building engaging user experiences with Livewire, Alpine.js and Tailwind CSS.

You’ll gain hands-on experience under a structured development plan while collaborating with experienced developers and participating in code reviews and sprint ceremonies.

Qualifications

• Around 2 years’ commercial experience in a PHP development role.
• Good knowledge of Laravel and its core components.
• Strong understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
• Confident using Git within a collaborative development environment.
• Strong communications skills and confidence working with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Curiosity, initiative and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Building and enhancing features across Laravel applications.
• Developing customer-facing journeys, admin tools and internal services.
• Writing clean, maintainable and tested PHP code.
• Creating interactive user experiences using Livewire, Alpine.js and Tailwind CSS.
• Working with MySQL databases and optimising queries.
• Troubleshooting issues, identifying root causes and delivering fixes.
• Participating in code reviews, sprint planning and team ceremonies.
• Supporting integrations with third-party APIs and providers.

The Role
