Job description

(AI, Automation & Internal Tools)

Location: Remote-first, with occasional meet-ups in Bristol or South Wales

About EVONA

EVONA is a specialist recruitment company working with the space and deep tech sector around the world. As we grow, we’re investing in new tools, products, and AI-powered solutions to transform how we work with clients, candidates, and data.

We're still early in our product journey, and we operate like a startup inside a fast-moving company. That means we're experimenting, moving quickly, and staying at the edge of what’s possible with AI, automation, and data science. If you're someone who enjoys variety, learning fast, and building things that have real impact, this is the kind of role where you’ll thrive.

The Role

This is a hands-on developer role for someone who enjoys building real products and seeing them used. You'll work closely with EVONA's Head of AI Integration on a wide range of projects, including internal tools, client-facing platforms, automations, and AI integrations.

We’re looking for someone who can take project plans and turn them into working software, with support and guidance on architecture, but full ownership of the build. You’ll also contribute to planning from a technical perspective and be involved in key decisions around how things are built and deployed.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Building, testing and deploying software tools from spec to production
  • Helping shape the technical approach and offering feedback during planning
  • Integrating APIs from platforms like Bullhorn, Candidate.ly, and OpenAI
  • Managing hosting, deployments and infrastructure (you’ll help choose the stack)
  • Creating functional, clean frontends for both internal and client-facing tools
  • Troubleshooting bugs and resolving technical issues with platform partners
  • Building AI-powered agents and tools using modern frameworks (e.g. LangChain, CrewAI, Assistants API)
  • Providing occasional support on smaller automation tasks or technical fixes

What We’re Looking For

This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working in a startup-style environment — curious, self-directed, and open to learning. You’ll need to be comfortable wearing multiple hats and picking up new tools or languages when the project calls for it. There’s a huge amount of room to grow and the chance to work across many domains: AI, APIs, automation, internal tooling, front-end interfaces, and more.

Must-haves

  • Strong Python skills (scripting, automation, APIs)
  • Experience building and deploying software end-to-end
  • Solid debugging and testing ability
  • Comfortable with frontend basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Hands-on experience working with AI platforms like OpenAI or LLAMA
  • Experience building AI agents (e.g. using LangChain, CrewAI, Assistants API, or similar)
  • Confidence managing hosting environments and deployment flows

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Power Automate, Zapier, or Make
  • Exposure to DevOps basics (Docker, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions)
  • Some general IT support or troubleshooting experience
  • Any previous exposure to recruitment or sales systems or tools

Working Style This is a remote-first role. We’d love you to be based somewhere in South Wales or near Bristol, so we can meet in person from time to time for planning sessions or collaborative working days. Day-to-day, you’ll work directly with the Head of AI Integration and have the chance to get stuck into meaningful projects quickly. We’ll also make sure you get a full understanding of how EVONA operates and what matters most to the business, so the work you’re doing always connects back to the bigger picture.

What You’ll Get

  • Flexible, remote-first working
  • 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays)
  • Private healthcare from day one
  • Company pension scheme
  • Monthly ThanksBen Mastercard allowance:
  • £80 from your start date
  • £100/month from year one
  • £150/month from year two onwards
