Job summary

FatFace in Havant is looking for a Junior Designer for Sweats & Jersey to support the category designer in Sweatshirts and Jersey Tops. You’ll help create trend-led, commercial collections, develop graphics and product designs, and work with buyers and suppliers to move concepts to launch.

You will design ranges under guidance, contribute to mood boards and trend packs, and translate ideas from paper to 3D prototypes while aligning with FatFace’s brand and sustainability commitments.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Fashion-based subject.
• Experience in presenting and influencing stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate with externals and Senior Management.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
• Strong eye for trends and FatFace brand knowledge.
• Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics and sustainable choices.
• Good knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
• Understanding of colour stories and translation from paper to 3D.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop FatFace products aligned with trends and create design packs for suppliers.
• Develop garments for own category and assist department design team.
• Create detailed graphics for prints and artworks.
• Research store trends and competitor ranges.
• Advise on samples ensuring alignment with design specs and budgets.
• Collaborate with Buyers on costs to ensure budget feasibility.
• Present ranges for sign-off and adjustments.

• Prepare mood boards and forecasts for upcoming seasons.

Supporting the Designer/Senior Designer, you'll help create trend-led, commercial collections, develop graphics and product designs, research market trends, and work closely with buyers and suppliers to bring products from concept to launch.

Role Summary

As a Junior Designer you will supporting the main category designer in Sweatshirts and Jersey Tops. You will be responsible for key products within a range. Working in conjunction with other category designers and buyers to create a collection for the category, help shape range direction and focal points as appropriate.

Role Responsibilities

• To design and develop FatFace products appropriate to the trends and produce design briefs/packs for the direct supply base and to achieve high quality first samples within the critical path timing
• To develop garments for own category and department design team where needed
• Design detailed artworks for graphics and surface designer
• Conduct market research in stores to identify what the latest trends are and competitors ranges
• Providing advice on initial samples, ensuring manufactured garments match initial design specifications
• Liaise with Buyers on costs/margins to ensure that the range can realistically be bought within given budgets
• Design ranges with the Buyer based on sales and trend information.
• CAD work including producing design packs, manipulating artworks, graphics and prints
• CAD range plans to ensure choice, newness and a balanced range offered to customers
• Liaising with suppliers on product and design detail.
• Present ranges to team and directors for sign off and adjustments.
• Support senior designer in research themes and directions for design presentation
• Create and present trend packs, mood boards and forecasts to include key items for following seasons in preparation for department strategy & sign off
• Align self to companies social and environmental mission and champion any actions that you can directly impact at all times’

• Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop. In Design and Illustrator)

• Ability to convey designs from paper to 3D design
• Good Knowledge of Factory processes
• Creative and able to convey vision of Fat Face Brand
• Comprehensive understanding of customer profile, product range & competitors
• Demonstrate knowledge of trend within the marketplace
