Job summary

Axter Ltd in Ipswich is seeking a Junior Design Technician to support the Design Team by preparing and managing clear flat roof design information. This entry-level role offers exposure to CAD, drawing packs, and project workflows within a collaborative environment.

You will develop skills in CAD drawings, design information management and use of common data environments, with progression toward a Design Technician role. Hybrid work options apply after probation.

Qualifications

• Some experience or a basic understanding of AutoCAD.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to managing information.
• Able to follow drawing standards, file structures and naming conventions.
• Able to understand and work with drawing revisions, document numbers and issue records.
• Willing to learn about construction, flat roofing systems and technical design information.
• Able to take responsibility for completing assigned tasks accurately and on time.
• Enough confidence and initiative to work through tasks without needing constant supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the production and amendment of CAD drawings.
• Support updates to standard details and project-specific details.
• Help prepare drawing packs and detail information for review and issue.
• Make drawing amendments under guidance from Design Technicians or the Design Team Manager.
• Learn how Axter systems, build-ups, interfaces and project requirements are shown in technical drawings.
• Apply agreed drawing standards, naming conventions and version control.
• Develop knowledge of flat roof systems, construction products and technical design information.
