Job summary

Sagacity is seeking a multi-skilled professional to join our team in London, combining helpdesk support with data engineering development. You will handle incoming tickets, escalate where needed, and work on scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, and data architectures for client services.

Collaboration with analysts and scientists is essential to ensure reliable data flows. The role also involves managing databases, implementing data governance, and continuously improving engineering

Qualifications

• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools (e.g. Apache Airflow).
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms and services (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g. Spark) is a plus.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in data engineering or cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Databricks) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Answer and triage incoming helpdesk tickets.
• Escalate issues to the correct level of support; monitor queue.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines.
• Implement ETL processes to ingest data from various sources.
• Ensure data quality and reliability through testing.
• Support data storage solutions and monitor performance.
• Collaborate with analysts/scientists to integrate data; develop APIs.
• Document data processes and generate reports/visualisations.
• Provide technical support for data-related issues; assist governance policies.
• Stay up to date with data engineering trends and contribute to code reviews.
