Job summary

Magnet in Darlington is seeking a motivated Junior Cyber Security Analyst to join our IT team. You’ll help monitor security alerts, support security tools and promote best security practices across the business.

The role offers hands-on development in a fast-paced environment with 39 hours per week, some office days, and on-call duties once fully trained; salary £28,000–£33,000 depending on experience. Travel to other sites may be required occasionally.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of cyber security principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to learn new security tools and processes.
• Willingness to follow documented procedures and maintain logs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and elevate potential threats promptly.
• Support security tools including endpoint protection, email security, and SIEM platforms.
• Assist vulnerability management by reviewing scans and tracking remediation.
• Collaborate with IT colleagues to investigate incidents and strengthen controls.
• Maintain security policies and documentation for compliance and best practices.
• Promote security awareness and a security-first culture.
• Manage workload via ticketing systems and security tools.
• Act as a point of contact for security queries and escalations.
